SpotlightOn – Bryonna Young

Bryonna is a determined, resilient leader. She maintains a 3.5 GPA and is very serious about her academic future and career. She wants to attend Indiana University to Major in Education.

Despite growing up in the Austin Community and on a block where gunshots are common, she is determined to make her community better by being a leader in the arts. Bryonna is a principal dancer and dance captain for Move Me Soul a youth dance company. She also plays the trombone in her school band.

She has served as a We Day ambassador and has presented at the Edna Manley Arts College in Kingston, Jamaica. Bryonna serves as an Ambassador for Move Me Soul. She assists in leading community dance workshops and discussions. She volunteers at various soup kitchens during the holiday season and provides tutoring to her peers. She donates 20 hours a month to these activities.

Bryonna would like to be an elementary school teacher and professional dancer. She would love to go to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and study at the Alvin Ailey School In New York. She would also like to perform for that company one day.
