In addition to the extra-curricular and community service activities Ian has committed to over 120 hours annually to volunteering as part of the Brookfield Zoo Scholars programs.
Ian is committed to going to college and pursuing a career in law, government and community organizing so that he can help communities here in the United States as well as in Jamaica, from whence his parents emigrated.
Ian was born with a severe speech impediment that, through hard work and determination, he has overcome while maintaining a positive attitude and outlook.
“Like Mr. Wade, I work hard every day to be the best and I will not let any obstacle stand in my way.” His relentlessness, whether through school, extracurricular activities, volunteer programs or overcoming personal obstacles should serve as an inspiration to us all.
