A quick look at Dwyane Wade’s Instagram account shows that the basketball star has more than just a passing interest in fashion. In fact, a quick (and completely unscientific) evaluation shows that his style-related posts outnumber the sports-related posts two-to-one. And while Wade obviously excels at purchasing and wearing the latest in men’s apparel and accessories, his involvement goes further than that. Because some of you may not know that he is also a designer. To wit: today, Wade launched the second installation of his collaborative collection with accessory-centric label The Tie Bar, based on the idea of a road trip.
The assortment of bow ties and pocket squares have been broken down into four mini-collections, each in honor of a U.S. city that has had a strong influence on him (excluding, of course, Miami, which he covered in his first line). From the resiliency of New Orleans and the respect he has for his hometown Chicago to the energy of New York’s Harlem neighborhood and the musically-inclined ethos of Memphis, Wade says this collection for The Tie Bar is a reflection of the places that have inspired him while he’s been out on the road. And to show he hasn’t forgotten those who helped him along the way, a portion of all proceeds will go to his charity, Wade’s World Foundation.
